Publisher 2K Games has announced this morningthe upcoming release of Bioshock: The Collection, a $59.99 bundle which will include the Bioshock, Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite games all remastered in 1080p. The collection will also include all single-player content from the three episodes (except for Bioshock 2 multiplayer mode) plus a never-before-seen video series “Director’s Commentary: Imagining BioShock” featuring Ken Levine, creative director on BioShock and BioShock Infinite and Shawn Robertson, animation lead on BioShock and animation director on BioShock Infinite.
The 2K staff shared that “countless fans have asked for this since the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One arrived,” adding that “the weapons, plasmids, levels, and character models that shocked you years ago have been reskinned and retextured to look better than ever.” However, the team explained that the PC version of Bioshock Infinite is not being remastered as “it already meets current-gen console standards and runs smoothly on high visual settings.”
If you never played any of those games, Bioshock is a critically-acclaimed first person shooter video game series that take you on a terrifying journey from the depths of the underwater city of Rapture in the first two episodes to the flying, steampunk city of Columbia in Bioshock Infinite. The franchise has a unique artistic direction and has garnered more than 125 awards since the release of the first opus nine years ago. You can watch the announcement trailer below:
The collection will be available on September 13 in the US, September 15 in Australia and September 16 internationally. 2K Games have already set upa pre-order page for the Xbox One and PS4 editions, though the digital PC version is missing for now. However, as the three, non-remastered Bioshock games are already available on Steam, we except Bioshock: The Collection to be available there soon as well.
