We recently wrote about the public event held by the New York City Department of Education. At the announcement, New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito announced that Microsoft would be offering free Office 365 ProPlus features for all of their 1.1 million students as well as teachers. Well it would seem that offer isn’t exclusive to just New York anymore.

It appears millions of students around the world are eligible to receive this same offer for their schools. Today, Microsoft’s Office team is announcing that they are making it easier for those eligible students globally to sign up themselves to get Office 365 and install free Office. This new extension will include 5.5 million eligible students in Australia, up to 5 million eligible students in Germany, 7 million in Brazil, 1.3 million in Turkey at the Anadolu University, every student in Hong Kong, and millions more.

In order to receive this offer, you’ll need a valid school email address to complete the sign up process. For teachers or students interested in finding out if they’re eligible, they can go to these respective links. Students – go tooffice.com/getoffice365and enter a school-provided email address. Teachers – go tooffice.com/teachersand enter your school-provided email address.

Just a reminder, those who end up receiving Office 365 free for their schools will be receiving:

It looks like the only caveat is that Hebrew and Arabic languages won’t be rolled out until Mid-March and that self sign up is not yet available in China. Good luck!
