It’s been a long time coming for console gamers that enjoy sandbox adventure games. Titles such as The Elder Scrolls Skyrim and Fallout 4 have significantly longer playing life on the PC specifically because players can download mods from all over the internet. Mods make it possible to edit a game’s functionality, add in more custom content, and customize a game to the player’s liking. Starting this week, Xbox One gamers are finally able todownload modsfor Fallout 4.

After the launch of Fallout 4 mods on Xbox One yesterday, Bethesda announced that the mod popularity on Xbox One was fifty times the number of downloads on PC.

Xbox traffic was 50x the initial#Fallout4PC mod launch. It’s a new world & just the beginning. New features & PS4 support in the works.

PC gamers have had the capability to download third-party mods and custom content since the beginning.Venturebeat.comtheorizes that this might be a major reason that the recent launch for Xbox One had such an impressive overhead. Not to mention the fact that any copyrighted material or owned images aren’t made available through Bethesda, Sony, and Microsoft’s distribution. But while players on the PC might still have a larger pool of content available to them, the ability to mod Fallout 4 on Xbox One is still a major step forward for console gamers.

“This is just the beginning…” Bethesda Game Studiostweeted, sharing that more features would be coming to the library of mods and custom content. With such a smooth transition of available mods bridging the gap between console and PC purchases, it would be interesting to see support develop for upcoming games in development from Bethesda.
