According to new data from ComScore, Microsoft’s Hotmail email service has fallen to second place right under Google’s Gmail service. While Google has been bragging that it’s Gmail service was number one, we now have data from ComScore that proves it.

Based on ComScore’s October 2012 stats, Google’s Gmail barely beats out Microsoft’s Hotmail service as the top email service worldwide. However, in the United States, Yahoo is number one. Yahoo has 7 million more unique visitors compared to Gmail. This pretty much means that 40.8% of online Americans use Yahoo, while 36.7% use Gmail and 18.9% use Hotmail. Microsoft recently rebranded Hotmail into Outlook.com and these stats showcase some interesting data. Did Microsoft’s re-branding of Hotmail really make a difference?

For most of the kids of his age, the Internet was an amazing way to play and communicate with others, but he was deeply impressed by the flow of information and how easily you can find anything on the web.
