Microsoft started updating the network selection window in Windows 10 build 9860, removing the old flyout from the charms list and replacing it with a window which opened PC settings. Many consider this change a step backwards, and technically it is as Microsoft isn’t done with the new implementation yet. For those who wish to return to the old method, we’ve got a tutorial for you.
Originally spotted bySpaceCore on Twitter, this hack requires editing the registry, so if you’re a novice at changing registry strings we advise you do not try this at home. To get the old flyout back in Windows 10 build 9860 and 9879, follow the instructions below:
Once that’s done, you’ll have the old flyout network selector back. It’s unclear why Microsoft decided to implement the new, unfinished version of the network selector so early, especially since the old methos still works in these early builds.
