This year’s Xbox Games Showcase has finally given us an official release window forFable.
The fantasy role-playing game (RPG) is being developed by Playground Games in collaboration with Eidos Montreal and is shaping up to be one of the biggest Xbox console exclusive games of the next few years.
It is set to arrive in 2025 and will launch for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. During the same presentation, it was also confirmed that the game will be available as part ofXbox Game Passimmediately upon release.
All of this new information came alongside a brand new trailer for the game, which focused on the newly revealed character Humphrey - a former hero who is portrayed by British comedian Matt King. Humphrey is forced out of a peaceful retirement by the actions of the protagonist and doesn’t seem too happy about it. You can watch the trailer for yourself, and experience plenty ofFable’s trademark comedy in the process, below.
The latest instalment of the long-runningFablefranchise,Fableis a reboot that has been described as a “new beginning” for the series. It was originally revealed back in 2023 with a short announcement trailer that appeared at a previous Xbox Games Showcase. This was then followed by a cinematic trailer that featured a grumpy giant portrayed by actor Richard Ayoade.
Although it has presumably been in the works for some time, we still haven’t seen a huge amount of the game. Trailers have shown some glimmers of combat, however, with the protagonist wielding a sword to defeat bandits. We will be keeping our eyes peeled for any further news.
