Microsoft adds Afrikaans language to Translator and other services

Microsoft Translatoralready supports over 50+ languages, but today, one more language is being added to the list. The Microsoft Translator team hasjust taken to their blogto announce support for the Afrikaans language.

A derivative of Dutch, the language will be available in all of Microsoft’s products with translation features powered by Microsoft Translator. Such products include the Microsoft Translator apps for iOS, Android, and Windows 10,Microsoft Office, Share Point, the Microsoft Translator Web Widget, and IM Translation in Skype for Windows desktop. Additionally, and for developers, the Microsoft Translator team is also nothing that those who use Microsoft Translator text translation API now also have access to the new language in their apps and products.

This support can be seen as good news for the 7 million people worldwide who speak Afrikaans as a primary language. It is, however, just the latest move by the Microsoft Translator team.Back in March, the team released a new version of aMicrosoft Translator APIwhich added real-time speech translation capabilities to the existing text translation API.
