Microsoft announces the Lumia 430, the most-affordable Lumia yet

It’s been less than a month since Microsoft unveiled the Lumia 640 and 640 XL, and the software giant has introduced yet another budget-friendly handset for the masses — the Lumia 430 Dual SIM. The handset comes with an extremely affordable price tag of $70, and will hit retail in several regions across the globe including APAC, IMEA, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Belarus from April. The handset will hit retail in two color options: black and orange.

“People around the world have responded enthusiastically to our affordable Lumia range. We continue to invest in this segment to ensure that as many people as possible can enjoy signature Microsoft experiences, regardless of budget,” said Jo Harlow, corporate vice president for Phones at Microsoft. “The Lumia 430 Dual SIM continues our commitment to combining the right hardware, software, services and apps with the right price to give people a smartphone they can afford and be proud to use.”

The handset comes with low-end specifications in two, featuring a 4-inch display sporting a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels with the processing power coming from a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor. The handset also boasts 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage coupled with a microSD card slot which supports up to 128GB of internal storage. To beef the storage a little bit more, users will also get 30GB of free OneDrive storage (15GB for sign up and 15 for activating the camera backup feature).

Other features include a 2MP rear shooter for photos and videos, VGA front-facing camera, dual-SIM support, a 1,500 mAh battery and ships with Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim as its operating system. Microsoft mentioned the handset is capable of running Windows 10, and the upgrade will be available once the operating system is officially released to the public.
