Microsoft has taken to the company website toannouncethe creation of the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Linux on Azure certification, in collaboration with the nonprofit Linux Foundation.The certification serves to demonstrate candidates’ ability to work with cloud-based Linux solutions running on the Microsoft Azure platform. In order to get this certification, two tests need to be passed: the Microsoft Exam 70-533 (Implementing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions), and the Linux Foundation Certifed System Administrator (LFCS) exam. To celebrate the creation of this new certification, there is currently a deal running for the LFCS exam which can be found onits main website.One important part of Microsoft’s image and culture change in recent years has been in the company’s increasing willingness to open up on its software development, most visible through a rekindled relationship with the open-source community. The creation of this certificate marks an important point in the continuing integration of Microsoft’s technology into open-source development and vice versa. It will be interesting to observe just how open Redmond can become in the years ahead.
