Microsoft has opened up the first specialty retail store in Maryland inside the Columbia mall. The kiosk-style specialty store, which is smaller than a typical Microsoft retail store, has 12 employees and is located inside the Columbia mall.

The kiosk-style store is located in the mall’s center court on the lower level. The Store offers Xbox, Windows Phone, Windows 8.1 PCs, Surface, and much more. Employees at the Store also offer technical support and assistance.

The specialty store opened June 12th with nearly 100 eager shoppers gathered around waiting to check it out. Justin Miller, manager of the specialty store, said that the Columbia mall was the “ideal location” for the first specialty store in Maryland.

“Microsoft wants to have a large footprint and we want to be here for the customer. The customer is our main focus and they demand more stores,”said Justin Miller, manager of the Columbia store. “We have a lot of products and services.. that the customers love and want to see.”

“We track where our customers are spending and where they are buying, and Columbia is one of those areas we really wanted to be in,” Miller added. “Columbia is a really great area, a nice community.”

As part of the store’s opening festivities, Microsoft offered the Surface RT 64GB at a discounted price of $199.

For most of the kids of his age, the Internet was an amazing way to play and communicate with others, but he was deeply impressed by the flow of information and how easily you can find anything on the web.

Prior to founding Windows Report, this particular curiosity about digital content enabled him to grow a number of sites that helped hundreds of millions reach faster the answer they’re looking for.
