Microsoft: Over 1.5 million Windows Insiders are testing Windows 10, roughly 450,000 are ‘highly active’

On October 1st, Microsoftlaunchedthe Windows Insider Program, allowing eager testers a chance to provide feedback on Microsoft’s new Windows 10 operating system. Up until this point, the builds of Windows 10 that have been offered were designed for enterprises in mind, however, anyone interested in helping Microsoft with feedback for the next version of Windows has been welcomed to participate.

In anofficial blog posttoday, Microsoft has revealed that more than 1.5 million registered users are participating in the Windows Insider Program, as of December 2014. Roughly 450,000 of those testers are considered “highly active” — meaning they are using the latest build of Windows 10 every day “putting it through its paces.”

Touting the initial success of the Windows Insider Program, Microsoft’s Gabriel Aul also stated that Windows Insiders are using Windows 10 preview builds “more actively” than beta testers from any previous version of Windows. This fact is visualized in the chart below.

Microsoft is set to talk about Windows 10 on January 21st, in an event hosted at the Redmond campus. A newer build of Windows 10 is expected to hit in the next few weeks — focusing on the consumer side of things.
