Following Microsoft’s acquisition of Perceptive Pixel in 2012 and the introduction of the first 55 and 82-inch versions, the devices haven’t exactly been readily available – although that might be about to change.

Former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, who is now Executive Vice President of Devices at Microsoft has reportedly mentioned that the company was preparing to mass produce the gigantic touch displays, which would hopefully drive their price points down. The devices are currently marketed by Microsoft as productivity and collaboration tools that will change the way we interact with technology in office spaces, however, it wouldn’t be too hard to imagine their applicability in other environments, such as homes and schools.

We should know more about pricing and availability as the devices start flowing down the assembly line. In the meantime, check out the video below to see how Microsoft currently uses the large-screen displays in their offices.
