Microsoft rolls out Office Delve, an intelligent search feature for Office 365

Microsoft has rolled out Office Delve, previously codenamed Oslo, for Office 365. Delve taps into Microsoft’s Office Graph machine learning database to display your most relevant documents, in an attempt to have information find you rather than you having to find information.

“Office Delve is a new way to discover relevant information and connections from across your work life. Delve displays information that is most relevant for each person based on the work they are doing and the people with whom they are engaging. With Delve, information finds you versus you having to find information,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

Information is presented in a beautiful, card-based design that is easy to understand. Delve also showcases intuitive ways to view content and only enabled you to view content you have access and permission to.

“Delve knows what’s relevant to you based on insights delivered through Office Graph, which uses sophisticated machine learning techniques to map the relationships between people, content, and activity that occurs across Office 365. Delve is the first of many experiences we will release, tapping into the connections and insights from Office Graph,” Microsoft added.

Office Graph, working hand-in-hand with Office Delve, is set to receive new integration signals and content sources such as email attachments, OneNote, and Lync. Currently, Office Graph can pull content from OneDrive for Business, SharePoint Online, and Yammer. With Office Delve, you can let information come to you, instead of having to dig though emails or search for items.
