Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 was a huge hit with both corporations and consumers, with Microsoft having taken to heart painful lessons from its Surface Pro predecessors, and paved way for the seemingly also-successful 4th generation. If you like the aethestics and functionality of the Surface Pro 3, but demand an even more mobile, compact package, however, the Surface 3 is still your only choice. If you haven’t picked one up by now and are staying in the US or UK, Microsoft is now offering some pretty good reasons to open your wallet.
As a quick recap, unlike the Surface 2 which runs the ill-fated Windows RT (and also started the thin-silver Surface looks), the 10.8-inch Surface 3 runs full blown Windows, powered by a relatively powerful Atom X7 Cherry Trail mobile chip. Memory options can go up to 4GB RAM and 128GB eMMC storage, and the Surface Pen is also fully supported (as a separate purchase, unlike the bundled-in pen of its bigger brother). It’s just a smaller, less powerful but still perfectly capable Surface Pro 3, with much better battery due to the size reduction, which makes it the perfect choice for road warriors and mobile workers.
Of course, a Type Cover is almost essential for a Surface tablet in spite of the separate hefty price tag, and you’re put off by the additional purchase,Microsoft Store in the USis now offering a free Type Cover with all models of the Surface 3. That’s a $129 saving off of something most of you would eventually have to purchase, so if you already have eyes on the Surface 3, it’s almost too good to pass up.
Elsewhere on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean,Microsoft UKis also joining in on the discounting spree with some not-as-good-but-still-good deals of their own, reportsNeowin. All models of the Surface 3, even the 4G LTE which just came back in stock can now be had for 50-60£ off their original prices. The 109£-Type Cover is unfortunately not included, but it’s still a substantial saving, especially when considering the additional free one-year Office 365 Personal subscription valuing at 59.99£.
The US Surface 3 deals lasts only until January 17 or when stock runs out, and UK folks get even less time with the offer running till January 16, so decisions have to be made fast.
