Some bad news oncoming for UK-based coveters of Microsoft’s newest engineering marvel, the Surface Book: it won’t be hitting UK shore for the next 4 or 5 months. The news was broken by Microsoft MVP and previous Neowin writer, Michael Gillett, on his Twitter page. He reportedly acquired the information from the Surface stand in #FutureDecoded, Microsoft UK’s annual 3-day partner conference for discussions and prediction of the future of technology, business, society, leadership, and more, among leaders of the industry in UK and Europe. Microsofts CEO Satya Nadella gave a talk at this year’s event in London, whose audience reportedly capped at 10,000. With the credibility of the information established, here is the details in Gillett’s own words:

Not stopping there, Gillett continues to sadden owners of the Surface Pro 3 looking forward to a taste of Windows Hello without changing their machines, by revealing information regarding the availability of the new Type Cover with fingerprint reader in the UK:
Just been told, there are currently no plans to bring the new Surface Type Cover with the fingerprint scanner to the UK#FutureDecoded

Not all hope is lost though:

While the news regarding Surface Book availability date may force some users with immediate needs to go for different laptop options, on the upside, this also means more time for other Surface fans to save up money, or to contemplate on whether the Surface Pro 4 might be the right choice after all. In the meantime, watch our hands-on of the device, and stay tuned for upcoming news, deals and more.
