Microsoft has today updated its Windows Update / Microsoft Update client. This will provide a more secure communication pipeline, strengthening the security for a specific set of Windows users, the company announced.
The new update is specifically applicable to users running Windows 8, Windows 7 SP1, Windows RT, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and Windows Server 2012 on their computers.Microsoft says that this will enable it to establish a secure connection between the client and Microsoft update service (otherwise known as Windows Update).
The update has already been rolled out, and if your computer is running any of the aforementioned versions of the Windows operating system, it should get it automatically. The update is also available as a separate download, so you can update your system manually as well.
Microsoft hasn’t mentioned any vulnerability in the current Windows Update, which could mean that the company was able to patch the issue before anyone could exploit it.
