It’s been a long and grueling purchase, but Microsoft can finally claim that it owns LinkedIn officially after EU approved the dealearlier this week. Today, both companies announcedthe big newsthat Microsoft’s acquisition has finally closed on the most popular professional network.

Satya Nadella isanxious to get started with LinkedIn. The CEO of Microsoft says that combining the world’s leading professional cloud and the world’s leading professional network will “deliver more connected, productive, and intelligent experiences for our members and customers.”

Jeff Weiner assured LinkedIn members that the service can only get better with the use of Microsoft’s technology and resources.

As we build for the future, our commitment to our mission, vision, values and your experience remain unchanged. Our members still come first and creating economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce has never been more important.

It looks like Weiner might be right. Nadella has already released new details about the integration with Microsoft and LinkedIn, laying out the roadmap for the immediate future to add in professional networking to the Outlook and Office suites and supporting resume building through Microsoft Word.
