While there hasn’t been a lot of focus on Microsoft’s mobile earnings in theirfirst quarter earnings report, there is a brief mention that the company’s phone revenue has declined by 54% due to their “updated strategy”. There’s no specific details given in regards to the mentioned strategy but it most likely refers to Microsoft’srestructuring of its mobile departmentand itsnew Universal app format which work across Windows 10 devices. There’s also the fact thatMicrosoft’s Windows 10 flagship devices, the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, were only recently announced andWindows 10 Mobile, which has been getting a lot of press, has yet to roll out to the general Windows Phone user. A 54% decline in revenue is nothing to take lightly but with all the changes underway in the Windows Phone section, it’s possible this could also be the calm before the storm.Do you think the decrease in revenue is a true reflection of the Windows Phone’s success or is it just a natural response due to the evolution of the device and its ecosystem?
