October 2022 NPD — Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the best-selling game of the month

NPD Group executive director Mat Piscatellasharedon Monday that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was the best-selling game of the month, per October 2022 NPD results. The juggernaut shooter was recently confirmed to havecrossed $1 billionin sales in its first 10 days. After Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Gotham Knights from WB Games took the #2 spot, while FIFA 23 — the top seller in theSeptember 2022 NPDresults — slipped down to #3.

For video game hardware, thePS5was the best-selling console in both dollar sales and in units sold, with theXbox Series X|Sconsoles taking second place in both of those metrics. In total, spending reached $4.3 billion for the month, with declines in hardware and mobile games but increases across subscriptions and digital sales.
