My Quirky Dual Monitor Setup

My Quirky Dual Monitor Setup I recently had a consult call with Taran (the awesome former LTT editor) and he said that getting another monitor would be a big productivity booster. So after remembering that I had an old 22″ 1080p monitor in my cupboard, I set it up… in a slightly quirky way. It’s mounted to a 360 degree articulating arm for future proofing, but I mainly use this in portrait mode to speed up my video editing....

Never Buy These PC Parts Second Hand

Never Buy These PC Parts Second Hand Life is EXPENSIVE nowadays, so it’s easy to be tempted by second hand PC parts that are sometimes available at a big discount to the full retail price. Upsizing My 12 Core, 64GB Workstation PC (mATX To ATX With Full Steps)

Upsizing My 12 Core, 64GB Workstation PC (mATX To ATX With Full Steps) I recently got fed up with being unable to fit small extra devices in my old micro ATX case, like my 10 Gigabit networking card. So I decided to upsize to ATX by purchasing a cheap mid-tower case (CiT Galaxy) and a quality B550 motherboard – the Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX V2. This combination has meant that I can hopefully achieve a clean looking build that can fit any extra PCIe cards into it, while still being fairly budget conscious – the motherboard and case only cost me £120 or so ($160)....

AMD Ryzen 7600 Integrated Gaming Performance (No GPU)

AMD Ryzen 7600 Integrated Gaming Performance (No GPU) My Homelab NAS is for storage: it has two 4TB NVMe drives (for 8TB of usable space). It has NO graphics card. It does, however, have an AMD Ryzen 7600 6-core CPU. This comes with integrated graphics which begs the question: can it play PC games? It’s clearly NOT an APU (like the Ryzen 8000G series of CPUs) but surely it can play SOME games, right?...

Control Multiple Devices With The Same Monitor, Keyboard & Mouse (9 Methods)

Control Multiple Devices With The Same Monitor, Keyboard & Mouse (9 Methods) If you have multiple computers, servers/NASes or Raspberry Pis around your home, you might have struggled with a simple problem: how to control them all without having LOADS of keyboard, mice and monitors everywhere. I recently hit across this problem after building my Homelab NAS and lugging around a separate monitor and keyboard quickly got annoying: so I went looking for alternatives....

“Upgrading” To 10 Gigabit Networking Was Challenging

“Upgrading” To 10 Gigabit Networking Was Challenging I decided to ‘upgrade’ to 10 Gigabit home networking as part of upgrading my content creation workflow series, but as it turns out, 10Gb can be a difficult upgrade. Achieving 1 Gigabit is a LOT easier. Soin this videoI discuss and show all the difficulties I faced when trying to move to 10 Gigabit networking, starting with PCIe and mATX/ATX PC builds but also discussing 10 Gig switches and cabling....
