Earlier this year, Capcom announced that it wouldbring its survival horror classics Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6 on both the Xbox One and PS4. Following therelease of Resident Evil 6 in Marchwhich was followed by thefifth opus last week, Capcomannounced todaythat Resident Evil 4 will be available on both consoles on August 30, a few weeks before the previously announced fall timeframe (viaPolygon).

If you’re not familiar with the title, Resident Evil 4 has been critically acclaimed for successfully moving the franchise from the survival horror genre to a more mainstream third-person shooter adventure with a great story, iconic characters and creepy enemies to fight off. In its blog post today, Capcom may have well described why Resident Evil made such an impact when it was first released on the Nintendo Gamecube in 2005:

This potent combination of exotic weaponry and dynamic enemy encounters is part of why RE4 was not only incredibly innovative for the wider video game industry, but has stood the test of time. There are many examples of paradigm-shifting video games throughout history, but not all of them have the benefit of being as fun to play today as when they first released. Resident Evil 4 is one of the best examples of this rarity.

Similarly to previous releases, the game will include all the preexisting bonus content and will be sold for $19.99 in North America, €19.99 in Europe and £15.99 in the U.K. Let us know in the comments if you plan to get this game on your Xbox One.
