Earlier today, Microsoft announced a name change to its Enterprise Mobility Suite to the ever so creative Enterprise Mobility + Security. While the name change may seem lackluster, the proposed additions to thesoftware planned for Q4 of 2016should be worth a look for companies who value a secure, productive enterprise.
Following the news of the name change, general manager of Microsoft’s Cloud Platform, Julia White, is now taking some time to explain how the company’s evolvingfocus on security can transform a business’s product, service, and engagement with its customers.
In recent months, we’ve announced cutting edge cloud-based security technology including Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection for end point breach detection, Microsoft Cloud App Security for getting control of the SaaS apps employees are using, Azure Information Protection to ensure information stays secure and Office 365 Advanced Security Management to give greater visibility and control over your Office 365 environment. All of these capabilities are included in the Secure Productive Enterprise offering.
We’ve also introduced leading cloud-based productivity technology including Office 365 Delve Analytics to understand personal productivity, Skype for Business PSTN conferencing and Cloud PBX bringing voice to the cloud, Microsoft Power BI for data analysis & visualization, and even Office 365 Advanced e-Discovery to ensure customers can find just the information they need for the issues at hand. All of these technologies are part of the Secure Productive Enterprise.
Everything you need to empower employees in a single package. It’s that simple.
White continues her pitch on security by also attempting to codify Microsoft’s offerings into two simple packages across Windows 10, Office 365 and its Enterprise Mobility Suite + Security. Essentially, businesses can opt for one of the two-tier plans distinguishable in name by the E3 and E5 monikers. The E3 tier of security offers Windows Defender and Advance Threat Protection in a package, whereas the new E5 package includes some of the newly listed additions planned for Q4 of 2016 and the release of the newly minted Enterprise Mobility + Security tools.
