Earlier today, Slack introduced their official app for Windows users; supporting Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 Technical Preview. If you are unfamiliar with Slack, it’s similar to other corporate instant messaging software like HipChat, allowing for team collaboration without the need to make a conference call or arrange a meeting.

Slackannounced a betaabout a month ago and it is great to see how fast they were able to finally release an official Slack app on Windows. Hopefully, more developers will be interested in developing official apps for Windows 8.1 and the summer release of Windows 10.

The arrival of a Slack app for Windows is an exciting development, especially if you have been relegated to using Slack via a browser. There is also talk of a Slack app upcoming for the Windows Phone, which would be great. For now, I will just have to settle for using Slack via my PC running Windows 10 Technical Preview. Download Slack for Windows in the download link below.
