Sony warns Vaio users not to upgrade to Windows 10 until drivers are available later this fall

Microsoft started rolling out the Windows 10 operating system last month to PCs across the globe.Millions of Windows usershave already jumped on the Windows 10 bandwagon, but it seems Vaio users may have to wait a little longer before they can upgrade to the latest, and greatest, operating system from Microsoft.

Sony iswarning Vaio usersto hold off with the Windows 10 upgrade as the Japanese company is working on drivers for the devices it sold (viaNeowin). In case you can’t recall, Sony sold its PC business to Japanese investment fund last year, but it seems the company aims to make sure they are providing existing users with support for the devices.

Sony said on their support website,

We are testing supported models and will be providing the results as quickly as possible. We plan to release Windows 10 upgrade information and, for Windows 8 and 8.1 models, drivers, applications and detailed information on the schedule below based on the operating system originally installed on the PC.

At the moment, the drivers for Sony laptops are not yet available, but the company aims to deliver them by October 2015 for devices which came pre-installed with Windows 8.1, as mentioned on the support site. On the other hand, users who purchased machines with Windows 8 pre-installed may have to wait a little longer as the company says it will release drivers for them by November 2015.

Unfortunately, if you’re in possession of a machine which came with Windows 7, you may not get drivers support. The company has listed Windows 7 machines as well, but didn’t give out any expected drivers availability date on the support site. The company only listed “Information regarding Limitation and Issues” for Windows 7 PCs and hopes to reveal further upgrade information later this month.
