Electronic Arts had a successful fourth quarter with strong financials and numbers. As per the earnings report, EA is the top publisher for PlayStation and Xbox One in the “Western world for the fiscal year 2016 as per EA estimates”. During their latestearnings report, the company also highlighted that Star Wars Battlefront is a highly successful new franchise, selling over 14 million units in fiscal year 2016, which was way ahead of company’s expectations. So, it makes sense for the developer to think about a successor to the popular game.

The company confirmed during the earnings call that Star Wars Battlefront 2 is in development and is expected to launch sometime in 2017 (viaGamespot). EA CFO Blake Jorgensen confirmed it will have “bigger and better worlds” and will make use of the content from the “new movies” — although he didn’t name which ones. Jorgensen further said that the company plans to release on new Star Wars game every year for the next three to four years, which sounds great.

If you’re not one of the 14 million, you can get Star Wars Battlefront from the Xbox Store.
