It would seem with cloud-focused Nadella at the helm, the Azure team is quickly becoming the All-Star team of Microsoft. While fixing Windows appears to be a priority for Microsoft, the news of development and its future propositions seem to pale in comparison to Azure at the moment. While the Windows team stumbles around trying to patch updates and drip out preview builds for both PCs and phones, the Azure team is netting commercial and government contracts, expanding the reach of Office 365, poised to expand the development scale of Xbox and Windows 10 gaming as well as releasing update after update at neck-breaking speeds. Right now the Azure team is running at full stride.
With that being said, Azure just gained a new email notification feature for Azure Site Recovery. This feature allows users to monitor the replication health of their virtual machines from anywhere they can receive email. Users can now configure their Azure Site Recovery vault to send Email notifications for any event they deem interesting. The emails can be configured to send information about replication issues like low bandwidth, recovery storage failures, and network connectivity failures.
In order to access this new feature, the user can go into the Events tab, which is accessible from the top of the Azure pane. Once notifications are selected at the bottom of the Events tab pane, the user will be given the configure notifications option. This option will then enable email notifications.
The Azure team mentions on their blog that they are hard at work attempting to extend the email notification feature further by soon adding support for monitoring additional events like DR provider connectivity issues, and SAN array replication issues. As per the ‘new’ Microsoft, the team is also welcoming feedback and suggestions throughtheir Azure Site Recovery user voice forum.
