While most of Windows 10’s apps are great services on their own, the People app is still being improved, and an update releasing today certainly looks to help that along. The update brings the app to version 10.0.10500.0, and introduces a per-contact history tab to help keep track of your interactions.
ThePeople app built into Windows 10has been a simple-to-use and sometimes painfully minimalist approach to a contact management app since the latest version of Microsoft’s desktop operating system launched last summer. As with other services like theSkype Messaging and Video apps, however, the People app has gained another feature to better integrate it within Windows 10. Specifically, the People app has gained a new tab across the top of each contact (on Windows 10 Mobile handsets) and a large pane on the right of the window (on Windows 10 for desktop). A look at the desktop view is just below.
While this might seem like an odd inclusion, especially since people have been hounding Microsoft about returning the People app’s live tile to the square-style photos of Windows 8 and 8.1, this adds a feature that actually exists within the contacts section of Microsoft’sOutlook appfor Android and iOS devices. When you tap into or click on a contact, you’re given a list of your recent emails, messages, and calls with them.
The introduction of this feature within Microsoft’s own ecosystem is definitely a handy feature to have at your disposal. With this update, the contacts app is now more self-contained and offers genuine utility over the previous version, which is great to see from an update to a core system app.
