The Microsoft Store started the week off right withthe first of its 12 Days of Dealson Monday, just in time for Christmas. The deals continued all week, and we made it all the way til Wednesdaybefore the whole 12 day list leaked. There were other deals, too, includinga sweet deal on a Surface Pro 3.
A number of apps were updated, includinga big update to the Facebook Windows Phone beta app,and updates tothe Twitch appand the arrival ofa Showtime Anytime appfor Xbox One, and a visual refresh forFoursquare for Windows 8.1.The MSN Suite of appsmade their way to iOS and Android, theHERE suite was updatedandHERE Maps arrived on Android, andSkype Qikfor Windows Phone got some update love, too. Oh, andCandy Crush finally arrived on Windows Phone!
In conference and event news, we got a glimpse ofthe speaker list for “Ignite”, the Tech-Ed successor coming to Chicago in early June, and Microsoft made it official with the announcement of a press event for Windows 10 consumer preview,slated for January 21st in Redmond. The event will last most of the day and will be live webcast, so mark your calendars and get the popcorn ready, this should be good.
But we didn’t make you wait all the way to January, this week wasfull of news on what’s next for Windows 10. We even got some Windows Phone 10 newswith some new information about “MixView”, the evolution apparently of Nokia’s 3D UI that was to be included in the ill-fated “McLaren” phone.
But we’re not stopping there, it looks like we’re in for another big week includingdeveloping news about Windows 10andthe leak of build 9901, so stay tuned to WinBeta for all the latest!
