Microsoft is looking to have Windows across all device categories, including 64-bit computing on ARM, according to a new job listing on the Microsoft Careers website. The listing also mentions that Windows 10 ARM64 support is “aligned” with the upcomingRedstonerelease, the next big update to Windows 10 slated for later this year. Here’s a snippet from thejob listing:

Windows across all device categories is readying for the introduction of 64 bit computing with the ARM instruction set (ISA). Bringing a new ISA to market involves working both broadly and deeply across Microsoft from devdiv to WDG to Server to Office and others depending on the scope of product target.
So what are the benefits of Windows 10 with ARM64 support? AsWindows Centralpoints out, imagine a phone that could utilize between 4 to 8GB of memory and the potential of running x86 apps with the rumored x86-to-ARM emulator. It would make an awesomeSurface Phone, wouldn’t it?

The interesting takeaway from this is that Microsoft is looking to add ARM64 support to Windows 10 with the upcoming Redstone update. Rumors have been circulating about a MicrosoftSurface Phone being in the works, and chances are this news may be related to that device.
There aren’t many details on the topic and saying anything more would just be pure speculation. We’ll keep you posted if we hear more on Windows 10 ARM64 and the Surface Phone.
