Roughly two weeks ago, Microsoft released Windows 10 Insider Preview build 10130 to participants of the Windows Insider program. Unfortunately, some Surface 3 owners have not been able to install this build. We have now learned thatWindows 10build 10130 will not work on theSurface 3, due to a bug that is unique to Intel’s Cherry Trail chipset. For those that did not know, Intel’s Cherry Trail line of Atom processing chips are featured in Microsoft’s latest tablet, the Surface 3.
“10130 is a no-go for Surface 3. We have a bug that is unique to Cherry Trail systems in that build. Relief is coming soon though,” Microsoft’s Gabriel Aulstatedon Twitter. So there you have it. If you have been spending countless hours trying to get Windows 10 build 10130 installed on your Surface 3, you can stop! Build 10130 was failing to install on a Surface 3 for numerous insiders. After downloading the build and rebooting, the system would freeze. If you faced this issue, it looks like you will have to wait for a newer build that addresses this bug. Build 10130 was recently released as an ISO file, and was not made availableto the slow ringdue to “several bugs.”
