Microsoft’s Gabriel Aul has teased us yet again, tweeting out a screenshot showcasing Windows Media Player in Windows 10 playing music with the FLAC audio format. Microsoft recently revealed that Windows 10 will also come withnative supportfor MKV and High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC).

“FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec, an audio format similar to MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any loss in quality. This is similar to how Zip works, except with FLAC you will get much better compression because it is designed specifically for audio, and you can play back compressed FLAC files in your favorite player just like you would an MP3 file,” the FLAC websitestates.

Check out the tweet below. The next preview build of Windows 10 is expected in January of next year. Stay tuned to WinBeta for all your Windows 10 needs!

Radu Tyrsina has been a Windows fan ever since he got his first PC, a Pentium III (a monster at that time).

For most of the kids of his age, the Internet was an amazing way to play and communicate with others, but he was deeply impressed by the flow of information and how easily you can find anything on the web.

Prior to founding Windows Report, this particular curiosity about digital content enabled him to grow a number of sites that helped hundreds of millions reach faster the answer they’re looking for.
