Windows 10: Microsoft promises updated File Explorer user experience (UX)

File Explorer, which used to be known as Windows Explorer, is Microsoft’s file manager functionality that comes with the Windows operating system. With Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 10 release, the Redmond giant is looking to improve the user experience of File Explorer.

In a tweet by Microsoft’s Gabriel Aul, the company is still working on the File Explorer user experience and plans to reveal “more goodness” at some point during the first part of next year. Microsoft is slated to release a ‘January Technical Preview’ next month, focused on consumers. No specific details were revealed.

Just recently, Aul emphasized in a tweet that Microsoft was in fact placing focus on touch targeting with Windows 10. In other words, Microsoft wants to ensure that Windows 10 features the right size and spacing for user interface elements, regardless if a consumer is using a mouse or touch input.

When asked if Microsoft was looking at concept designs for File Explorer, Aul tweeted that he does definitely look at them and loves seeing ‘cool high fidelity mockups by Windows fans.’ Who knows, perhaps a particular concept you have seen on the internet might end up being the idea behind the new File Explorer user experience.
