Microsoft doesn’t waste any time! The first Redstone update, akathe Anniversary Update, for Windows 10 is not even out yet, and the company has already started working on the second one. In addition, there’s word around the internet that Microsoft is testing a new Windows 10 Preview build internally, and it should be available to Windows Insiders soon.
Since the Anniversary Updateis going to be releasedby the time Microsoft pushes a new Preview build, we can say that it will mark the start of the “Redstone 2 builds cycle.” According to BuildFeed, the first Redstone 2 build for Windows 10 Preview will be dubbed 14894 and should be available to all Insiders who choose to stay in the Insider Program after the Anniversary Update.
Despite the big jump in the number, the new Windows 10 Preview build probably won’t introduce any new features. That is completely normal since Microsoft needs some time to prepare new additions. We remind you that when Microsoft started shipping Redstone 1 builds to Insiders, we waited more than a month for new features.
Speaking of Redstone 1 Preview builds, Microsoftreleased the first Redstone Preview buildto Insiders right after the November Update, so the fact that the company will do the same with Redstone 2 builds is not surprising. We still don’t know anything about potential Redstone 2 features but as soon as Microsoft announces something new, we’re going to make sure to let you know. For now, let’s focus on the Anniversary Update which will be released tomorrow.
If you’re interested in testing Redstone 2 Preview builds, tell us what features you expect from the next major update for Windows 10 in the comments below!
