Microsoft is set to roll out a new Windows 10 build in January, likely the January Technical Preview geared towards consumers, but that is not stopping Microsoft’s hard-at-work Windows team from rolling out two hotfixes that addresses a bug with Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9879.

The two hotfixes have rolled out just recently and are available via Windows Update. Many Windows Technical Preview users who are running build 9879 have been experiencing frequent Explorer.exe crashes and Microsoft has taken time to fix these issues going into the new year.

This problem only affects a handful of testers (roughly 12% of those who are testing Windows 10 build 9879). The two issues deal with “the logic for low-space detection” which happens to get inverted and compressed automatically as a background operation and a second issue dealing with the file system causing the “installer to think that the temp files failed to extract correctly” resulting in the installer failing because it thinks it cannot complete.

Microsoft has done well (so far) having this man front and center with the company’s new Windows 10 operating system and the Windows Insider Program.
