Yesterday we reported that the Windows Phone Recovery Tool that allows users to rollback their Windows Phones from technical previews wasrenamed to the Windows Device Recovery Tool. While a small change in name, it could have more implications down the line since there are many more Windows devices than phones. One of those additional devices is already being supported in the HTC 8x as reported byWindows Blog Italia(viaWMPowerUser), or at least firmware for the 8x is included in the new tool. One reason this is good news for HTC 8x owners is that some of them were mistakenly sent out a Windows 10 Mobile preview build. Despite the HTC 8x not supporting the latest technical preview, some received the update and found their devices unusable. With the Windows Device Recovery Tool adding support for this device, users can roll back to the comfort of a stable operating system in Windows Phone 8.1. Some users on a Microsoft Answers thread are reporting thatthe tool still is not working for them, so the work to recover those devices may still be ongoing. It’s unclear at this point if the name change for the recovery tool will only bring support for more phones such as the HTC 8x or if other Windows devices will be added as well.

For most of the kids of his age, the Internet was an amazing way to play and communicate with others, but he was deeply impressed by the flow of information and how easily you can find anything on the web.
