Last month, we reported on the continuedshuffling of chairs aboard the Microsoft executive deck. Some of the moves made by Microsoft were to consolidate roles while others were shifted into better suited positions. Twenty-six-year Microsoft veteran, David Treadwell, was among the executives to be shuffled, having moved from Windows to the Microsoft Cloud and Enterprise division. At the time, Treadwell’s move was a big question mark for Microsoft observers. However, just a few weeks after a landing a new home in different department, we are getting a bit more clarity on the change.Thanks to a report fromMary Jo Foley over at ZDNet,we now know Treadwell’s new title of Corporate Vice President of Identity puts him at the head of a recently split division of Identity and Security in Microsoft’s Cloud & Enterprise Division.Taking on the responsibility of the Security portion of the newly split unit will reportedly be Bharat Shah. Shah is now the active Corporate Vice President of Security. Prior to the promotion, Shah worked as a general manager of BPOS, Office 365 and Microsoft’s Online services. More recently his title was Vice President of Windows Azure Active Directory and Security. Seems the promotion was a natural fit for him and Microsoft.As for what the new Corporate Vice Presidents of Identity and Security now do separately remains a mystery. Microsoft has yet to detail why the unit was separated and what each unit’s goals are going forward. The move almost seems counterintuitive to many of the moves Microsoft has made lately in its efforts to consolidate and eliminate layered communication.Other management moves include Brad Smith, whowe reportedis now president and chief legal officer at Microsoft.After some relatively big shakeups on the Microsoft landscape recently, the new title changes for these executives seems almost respectively mundane.
