New information has leaked on Windows Server vNext, or what Microsoft seems to be calling “Nano Server.” According to some leaked slides, Nano Server will be the ‘nucleus’ of next generation cloud infrastructure and applications.

Microsoft has apparently created Nano Server to address several complaints from customers. “Reboots impact my business — why do I have to reboot because of a patch to a component I never use” and “Large server images take a long time to deploy and consume a lot of network bandwidth” are just two common remarks Microsoft seems to hear about Windows Server. Security is also a big concern, just think back to all the major hacks and security breaches you read about on the internet.

This is where Nano Server apparently comes in. As Microsoft describes it in the leaked slides, Nano Server is “a new headless deployment option for Windows Server” which eliminates the need to sit in front of a server to manage it, along with the support for cloud applications, and much more.

You can head over to the VIA link below to check out the slides. Nano Server will be a part of the next release of Windows Server, with a limited Technology Adoption Program (TAP) later this year to gain early feedback. We’ll have more on Nano Server as details become available.

Radu Tyrsina has been a Windows fan ever since he got his first PC, a Pentium III (a monster at that time).

For most of the kids of his age, the Internet was an amazing way to play and communicate with others, but he was deeply impressed by the flow of information and how easily you can find anything on the web.

Prior to founding Windows Report, this particular curiosity about digital content enabled him to grow a number of sites that helped hundreds of millions reach faster the answer they’re looking for.
