A new report has surfaced today claiming that the upcoming preview for Windows Threshold will be named “Windows Technical Preview for Enterprise”. Now obviously, the naming of this preview pretty much confirms that the preview expected at the end of September will be focused on businesses, most likely trying to convince them that Windows is still a viable option for their businesses. There will also be a public preview of Windows Threshold too, which is rumored to land September 30th.
The public preview and Enterprise preview are said to be identical, however that’s not 100% confirmed. According to Neowin, the public preview may be slightly different to the Enterprise preview. This may not be the case however, so do keep that in mind. Of course, since this is a ‘technical preview’ new user-interface elements won’t be present in these early builds.
The updated UI is coming later, more closely to RTM sometime in 2015. Microsoft is expected to open up about it’s plans with Threshold very shortly too, as they are preparing to begin shipping pre-release builds to OEM’s and other partners. Once the builds reach people outside of Microsoft, they never stay unleaked for too long.
So, will you be downloading the Windows Technical Preview or will you be waiting for a more stable release? What ever you do, stick around at WinBeta for all the Threshold coverage as we’ll definitely have a hands-on tour of the operating system!
