Anyone who does any sort of writing (which includes just about everyone) can usually benefit from another set of eyes. Publications like WinBeta have editors to check over our writing, and while nobody’s perfect and editors do miss things, without them, our stories would be crammed full of errors.

For people who write without the benefit of editors, even simple email and forum postings, tools like grammar checkers can be invaluable. Going beyond mere spell-checking, services likeGrammarlycan catch a number of writing errors that can make a message far less effective. That’s why we’re glad to hear that Grammarly is planning to release anEdge extensionto go along with the ones they offer for competing browsers.

WinBeta reader Patrick (thanks for the tip!) contacted the company about Edge, and received the following response:

Thanks for contacting Grammarly. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your questions.Grammarly does not currently operate from within Microsoft Edge. It is a planned feature, but unfortunately I cannot provide you with a release date.

While we’d love to have a release date to plan around, it’s enough at this point to know that Grammarly is planning to support Edge. It appears to be easy to port over from a Chrome extension and so technical issues should not be among the potential holdups. More likely, is the fact that we’re waiting for this summer’s Windows 10 Anniversary Update for official Edge extension support.
